Moustache Cushion Tutorial

As you can probably guess, us and blogging hasn't happened for the past 2 years. But things are about to change. So we thought our first blog post should be a tutorial! And here it is our Moustache Cushion, made from Riley Blake - Geekly Chic and Super Jumbo Ric Rac.

This is a totally simple make, but if you want to make it a bit easier just take out the trim.

Materials you need:
1 Fat Quarter (I used Riley Blake - Geekly Chic Moustaches)
1.5metres-2metre of a trimming (I used Magenta Super Jumbo Ric Rac)
Toy stuffing
Moustache template (you can find it here. Print out on A4)

So, first of all you need to cut out 2 moustaches (make sure that if you are using a one-way print, not to fold it in half and cut both out at once else you might have upside down tashes!)

Take you ric rac and pin to the edge of one of the moustaches. Make sure your pins are on the fabric side, so when you sew, you are still able to see the moustache shape. If you are using any other trim for example pom poms, pin the edge of the trim to the edge of the fabric.

Manipulate the ric rac round the curves so it will lay flat and pin the centre of the ric rac to the edge of the moustache

Sew the ric rac onto the moustache. Making sure that you stitch in the centre of the ric rac.

Take your other fabric moustache place and pin on top of the other, right sides together and stitch round the shape, leaving a gap for the toy stuffing.

Clip all of your curves so it will lay flat and snip away any bulk so the points will be pointy.

Fill your moustache so it is nice a squidgy and stitch up the gap.

Et voila! Your finished!

Please share any of your own makes on our Facebook page or drop us an email!
